50 Years of Family Winegrowing

Jerry Lohr released his first J. Lohr wine in 1974. What followed would reshape the landscape of the California wine industry and create one of the country’s most popular wine brands. Even after fifty years of winegrowing and celebrating eighty seven years on the planet, Jerry is not slowing down. He continues to explore, learn, and lead in all aspects of the wine industry.

Jerry, one of the most generous and influential benefactors in our university history, has had a transformative effect on South Dakota State since he arrived on campus in 1954. We can't think of a better way to celebrate Jerry than to raise a glass of his own product, toasting to a life of premier viticulture and tremendous philanthropy.
